Conquerable -By- Mo Mukti

by Eden Benibo June 29, 2018

Beams and light emitting diodes through faints of attraction.
I couldn’t withstand their blinding reflection.
You stood out from the crowd of façade and fallacy.
Others are judging, you are on fine and pretty place.
Where in this world can i find you and cherish every smile?
In a world where I only see the best in you.
The stardom and hopes you bridge and still stand the same.
You are nothing similar to what they portrayed you to be.
You are headstrong, phenomenal and side by side your world will fight.

Why is the conquerable side of you cowering in the dark?
While the leeches and serpents are at war with your hope and aspirations.
Wear your cloak of war and allow the beam of victory hurtle through you.
The fire in the rain too meagre to burn you out.
The holes and bumps are overwhelming on wetlands.
Sail in the Egyptian river of hard work.
Who are you not to serve the world and conquer heights?
The quake is beating down shaky grounds.
Feel the pull, cease the moment.
Posterity should judge you not of the person you become.
But of the ground breaking you withstood.
Hustle with a muscle that bends the course of time.
The world looks timeless, dream and fail big.
Burn bridges and turn tables.

About The Author:

Mo Mukti is can be best described as a selfless personality with a heart ever ready to reach out beyond all odds.
Recently, more than ever before, many beautiful hearts have come to me on the issue of depression. I realized that people are going through a lot. Dreams are dieing and souls are going down with this disease of the mind. Gratefully, I also realized that just few words of a touch of positive vibes can illuminate these same hearts clogged up in the whirls of life.

I shared my thoughts on this with many awe-inspiring writers and majority responded affirmatively to the project of giving hope, lubricating rusted dreams and building an army of the positivists through words…

However, Mo Mukti, a writer I barely know in person was so proactive to the whole idea that he wrote the above peom INSTANTLY, sending line after line to fit in the intended motive… Mo Mukti, is one of those said poets I like to refer to as poetry. He is simply poetry in motion, with a heart to feel so deeply..

He is obviously a goal booster, who is also a short story writer, songwriter, screenwriter and an unpublished author. He does some freelance work on the Internet and also teaches the basics of computer.

In all, I look forward to doing more beautiful collaborations on art with Mo and other like minds.
Glow on Mo!!

Change

by Eden Benibo June 18, 2018

Oga: see, you’re the change that you seek. Be the change you want to see.
.
Me: Alright Oga, I no argue with you at all oo. In fact, I’m one of those persons that strongly believe in ‘Personal Responsibility as a beginning of an end…’
.
Oga: Hehehe yes, that’s very good! Just leave the government out of all these things and be the change you want to—
.
Me: Eeehn Oga! Leave wetin?
No! I will not leave the government out of this #change matter oo, neither I’m I holding on to them…
~~~~~
Maybe I would have been more relaxed with the phrase “I am the change that I seek”, individuality is very important in this game of responsibility we are trying to play; because this ” you are the change… ” reigning everywhere is becoming something else.
.
Oga told me “you are the change.. and I agreed, but he seemed to have forgotten he is the change too, just like the government is… (abi na only me wan be the change?)
.
..so the problem I have noticed is we seem to always fail to strike a balance most times. We tend to move to the extreme right or extreme left of life issues.
.
Let’s see these instances ~
Welcome to my world, (my world o, not only Nigeria) where the equality we celebrate and claim to gradually achieve has lumps of inequality dangling within.
This is why we still have lots of commas in the gender inequality we try to put a full stop to. Let’s try to create a balance even in the fight for equality that we seek, else, in the nearest future we would start seeing ‘fearless lions’ as daughters and ‘timid she-goats’ as sons. see this vivid example amongst others.., no doubt little girls are molested, little boys are molested too. We’ll keep moving in circles if we don’t understand the term we fight for- Equality.- A balance..
.
In the religious/spiritual aspect of our lives, we pray so hard that we forget to work #read #vote #all and work so hard that… Vice versa. We judge so much that we forget to love (are we even supposed to judge at all?) We carry righteousness so much to heart that we forget to remember that it is unrighteous to look down on the ‘said unrighteous’.
.
In our personal lives, we crave for success so much that we feel the world has come to an end when failure creeps in, forgetting that failure ‘well managed’ is just next door to true and lasting success.
We even talk so much that we perhaps forget to act.
The list goes on and on.
.
#backtothematter
..so, when Oga told me “you are the change.. ..and seemed to forget he is the change too, he made matters worse by saying ” leave the government out of this.. Choi!!!
.I was surprised the other day when Abu, my friend, a petty trader on my street told me he would never return to his country (a neighboring country) because he loves Nigeria. At first everyone around laughed and thought he was joking until I realized how serious he was, as he went on.
That day I realized that #ThisIsNigeria, some other country’s America. I realized that yes, we are far below expectations, our expectations but irrespective of all, we are strong, we are Blacks, we lack nothing but what we lack. We are all that we need..
.
Truth be told, we have been failed countless times…
..and yes, change begins with me just like it begins with you too. If it begins with you and I, then it begins with us. Us-them- because they are part of us. So, the balance here is when everyone is involved. Like INVOLVED.
.
I’m in my own corner trying not just to contribute but also ‘be the change’ in anyway I can. My contributions for now may not be a floodlight to quench the darkness and much negativities around, but it’s a light, even if you may call it a candle light.
If everyone of us can lit our candles, I believe it’s enough to dissolve the this darkness into flames of brightness.
.
Personal responsibility is the beginning of an end to all these disturbing- this and that around us.
So?
Yes… This Is Nigeria.. We are Nigerians… Let’s all get involved…
