Ways To Overcoming The Noise In Your Life – By- Apeji Victor .A

by Eden Benibo April 18, 2019

Enforcing a positive mindset and shutting out negative thoughts is important to get ahead in today’s world, where we are exposed to a lot of negatives daily. Subconsciously, these negative elements begin to plant themselves in our within us, which if not carefully managed, starts to manifest in our actions and lives in general.
Several books have been written on the law of attraction, positive thinking and attitude. There is a popular saying that “we can’t control the things that happen to us but we have the power to control how we choose to react to them”. However, most people don’t seem to care about these things or are too ignorant to understand.

The simple daily practice of showing gratitude for the free things you enjoy, which includes, the air you breathe; good health, sound sleep, small wins will go a long way to influence our attitude. A heart of gratitude will help us look at the positive side of life, and increase our hope for a more positive future outcomes.

Do you know music affects our mood?
The type of music we listen to, particularly before we sleep, at night, and when we wake up by morning, have an emotional impact on our frame of mind. A vivid example is this- If we listen to depressing songs often, we begin to have gloomy thoughts, but if we listen to inspirational songs, trust me, we get inspired to thrive!.
Working as a Music Officer in a radio station, made me realize, how powerful music is. It’s high time we monitored the kind of music we often listen to, and we will realize why we behave in certain ways.

Practice silence and meditation
In a world that is ever noisy, practicing silence may seem impracticable, this is the more reason we need a place of solitude, to connect with ourselves and to God. Silence allows us to have deeper reflections, grow in creativity and connect meaningfully with our emotions. It helps us to slow down, and look inward instead of reacting, to external stimulations. Meditation, on the other hand, helps us to focus our mind on a particular object, thought or action. It is an intentional act of paying attention to a particular activity, and its aim is to help achieve a clear and stable mental state. In a world filled with distractions, our ability to control ourselves and master our mind will help us reach a higher level of awareness and inner peace.

These tips will improve our lives, only if we can apply them daily. The benefits of a positive mindset is endless. Most importantly, we would enjoy better psychological and physical wellbeing! So, let’s “guard our hearts with all diligence” and glow beyond the darkness negativity brings.

Grow You

by Eden Benibo April 15, 2019

Living in a world where we wake up each morning to new innovations and improvements on how things were, just a night before shows beyond every reasonable doubt that life is ever changing. Phases fade out, because even life grows.
Therefore, it is a huge risk to remain stagnant in a world ruled by pace and ace.

The Core Meaning of Change
It’s high time we realized that change isn’t just a theoretical phenomenon. Change isn’t a part of life. Change is life itself. So? It’s either we live it or it leaves us behind.
This entails that we should constantly be on the move, in our journey of personal development. This requires the totality of our lives, being conscious of the fact that every move either made or not made reflects on the scale of our progress.

 Build Capacity!
How ready are we for the opportunities that we seek?
Most times we have great plans on how we want to make huge positive impact in the lives of others. We have dreams on how we want to make a difference. How we want to change the world for the better. All fine and beautiful! But how often do we resolve to change ourselves, become better with our skills, our talents and our endowments in general. It’s important to note that true success and lasting positive impact in the lives of others begin within us as individuals. For we cannot give out more than the content of our worth.
Therefore by all means, we must consciously and consistently
-Improve on our skills
-Fuel and refuel our knowledge tank
-Learn something new each day
In order not to be left behind by life.

Remember! Grow into your next level, do not hop into it and watch ‘you glow before your own eyes’!

If Life Was A Dream- By- Onyilo Theresa

by Eden Benibo April 2, 2019

Sometimes I wish this reality was a dream, then I would force myself awake
Awake from this cruel reality, a reality so cruel it can damage humanity, all of it!

If reality was a dream, I would awake from beholding the fatal fate of the destitute in every corner of our streets and highways, who live as though forgotten by divinity.

Yes, if reality was a dream, I would rather not experience the dead systems of government inherent in many third world nations where Mr. Green and White reigns as king most High maintaining constant instability till infinity.

Sometimes I wish the ‘giant’ of all the Frikas was a little above the ground level boasting in socio-economic cum educational stability, But NO.
Sometimes, I wish that the blood pouring like acid rain in every sphere of the globe was a nightmare I could awaken from.  For this bitter reality floods our streets with dirges sung and unsung.
Sometimes, I wish that the kids sent to school in search of a better morrow were not found beneath the rubble gasping for breath and finally returning to their maker without bidding farewell to the ones who bore them.

Sometimes, I wish that the enemies of humanity who value the four legged creatures over the images of the divine being were but a myth, old and forgotten.
Sometimes, I wish that the many worshippers of the Almighty would love mankind as much as they claim to love the one above. I wish they would not be so logophobic in proclaiming the truth when on the pulpit putting aside all forms of eye-service and fear.

Alas this reality is so devastating it drains every blood in me until I have no life left, save the one encased in my pen, it forces out the feebleness in my bone like a wounded warrior

But as one skilled in faith, I refuse this realty to determine my fate
For although life isn’t  a dream, I still see the light. For this disastrous reality will begin to dim-
Like a vapour in the wind, it will pass away like a flower quickly fading

And the ocean will again begin to flow freely, So free, even Eko atlantic will not be a barrier.
