She was scared, scared of the unknown. ¬†At least, she knew she was scared of being alone. Scared of doing things alone. She’d always tell him what she wanted to do, always ask for his consent, they’d always do stuff together. He was such a part of her she couldn’t remember what she used to be before he came around. Sitting there, by her window staring without a drop of tear in her eye but a thousand tears in her soul wondering where she had gone wrong to deserve this.

Naomi was lost between confusion and pain. She thought he was real because he didn’t have friends. Mama always told her the realest people have few or no friends at all because they do not tolerate the phony things and they always keep their circle tight.
Six months felt like forever and a day after with Daniel.
She had finally found her forever, she said to herself once. She had finally seen the one person who caught her fancy. It was heaven on earth.
Riding policy?
No. She had no riding policy with Daniel.
She was ready to ride with him till the wheels fell off. He was the one person who she could share everything with and not feel judged because he won’t judge. He had her to himself. She did anything he wanted. This was his advantage.
Daniel consumed her mind and controlled her life.Naomi was lost in love so she couldn’t see through.
She dare not tell herself the truth because she knew she wouldn’t be able to handle what lies underneath. The bitter truth! He had a family! A wife and two kids!

Why did he lie about not having a family? Why did he tell her she was his forever when he didn’t mean it?
I want to ask these questions but I can’t. I want to ease my sister’s pain and not increase it. All I can do is stand close to her and pat her back.

Beautiful narrative. I love the fact that the narrator wasn’t known till the end. Good piece
